Assessor
The County Assessor is responsible for assessing the real and personal property within Scott County.
Diana Cozart is currently serving as Scott County Assessor. She, along with her staff, are responsible for maintaining the records for the county’s seven taxing districts.
The County Assessor’s Office Handle Tasks That Include:
- Oversees Cyclical Reassessment process
- Certifies current Assessment to the County Auditor’s Office
- Real Property assessment notification – Form 11 Notice of Assessment
- Verifies and reviews the self reported values of all personal property in each taxing district
- Calculates the total assessed values of all personal property in each taxing district
- Processes Personal Property tax abatements
- Administers Sales Disclosure Process
- Mobile Home assessments and notifications
- Discovers and identifies omitted property
- Processes Not-For-Profit Property Tax Exemption Applications
- Processes Classified Forest applications/withdraws
- Serves as Secretary of the County Property Tax Assessment Board of Appeals (PTABOA)
