The Scott County Public Defenders’ Office represents individuals who are indigent and have been charged with a crime, certain child custody cases involving the Department of Child Services, and specific contempt matters.
We commit ourselves to the goal of ensuring equal justice through quality representation, and we employ an accomplished team of professionals to achieve this end. Our qualified attorneys fight to uphold the constitutional protections the law affords to those accused of crimes, and we dedicate ourselves to the pursuit of “liberty and justice for all.” A Public Defender’s role is identical to that of a privately retained attorney. Public Defenders are governed by the same regulations and ethical obligations as privately retained attorneys.
